The band line up has experienced a number of changes over the years, but the current line up has been unchanged since 1999. Most agree that their most profound and evocative music has been written during this period. All of the current members of the band are from the Lake District. After various spells up in Scotland, including the majestic Isle of Skye, they have returned to their homeland.

Music is without doubt at the heart of the Croftsmen happening. However the band is a multimedia, multidimensional entity. All members of the band consider themselves artists in the wider context. Among their talents include fine art painting, impressionist painting, modern art, sculpture, basket weaving and puppetry.
